The Warlock’s Awakening: Summary

Welcome back to my blog! Last week I did something different and fun, but this week I’m going to give you guys something I think you’ll like a lot more… For one, it’s short and sweet. For two, it has to do with the third book in The Witches’ Sleep Trilogy!

So what am I posting about, then? The not-so-final* back-of-book summary of THE WARLOCK’S AWAKENING.

*emphasis on the not-so-final part

Tell me what you guys think! Does this make you want to read it even more? If you see any errors, please don’t hesitate to point them out! I encourage criticism! (Just not unnecessary criticism, and you all know what I mean by that: those mean, ugly trolls).

But, with every Warlock, a sacrifice is required…
Along with his friends and family, Victory will face many unsettling trials. Torn between his destiny as the Warlock, the ultimate savior of the universe, and saving those he loves, Victory must make a choice. Will Victory succeed in his quests? Or will he lose those he loves the most?

Infinity Dreams Award

I was tagged by Alyssa at writinganyone.wordpress.com!

Eleven Facts About Myself:
1) I published my first novel at age 17.
2) I published my second novel at age 19.
3) I just turned 21.
4) I’m a Christian.
5) I have the best boyfriend in history (actual fact; not biased *wink*)
6) I’ll be get my braces removed in just one month! (FINALLY)
7) I’m currently a third of the way through my third novel.
8) I have blue eyes.
9) Stephenie Meyer is the first author that got me interested in YA fiction at only 13 years old.
10) Suzanne Collins was my inspiration for my first novel, THE WITCHES’ SLEEP.
11) I still haven’t read any of J. K. Rowling’s books (but I have them all, and I really want to).

Questions From Alyssa:
1) What is your favorite book?
This is such a difficult question. Hmm, I would probably have to say THE HOST by Stephenie Meyer simply because I’ve read it twice and I still, every now and then, go back to re-read my favorite parts.

2) Do you like snow or rain better? Why?
Snow, because I never see any! (I live in South Texas where our winters are never below 50 degrees in the day, lowest is 40 at night).

3) What’s your favorite thing about reading?
I love getting lost in a writer’s world. It’s almost like getting in their head and seeing their dreams. I love to look at it like that. Also, I love getting away from reality, forgetting about life’s problems and taking up a “new identity” as the main character.

4) When you read, do you use a bookmark? (Sorry for all the reading questions!)
Haha, yes I use a bookmark! Ugh, I can’t STAND when people dog-ear book pages. It makes me want to cry.

5) What is your favorite board game?
Let’s just skip this because I may or may not prefer child games. *Internally screaming Candy Cane Land*

6) If you could ride any animal (pretending that it was the proper size, not a viscous, blood thirsty creature, etc.), what would it be?
A TIGER! OH MY GOODNESS, PLEASE, YES.

7) How do you feel about bananas?
I love bananas!

8) What is your favorite state (assuming you’re all Americanos, and ignoring your home state)?
IGNORING TEXAS?! Now you’re just being ridiculous. I can’t even answer this question because there is no right answer except for Texas.

9) Least favorite letter?
X. There are so few words that actually start with an X. At least the ones I know.

10) What birthday has been your favorite so far?
My 21st was pretty awesome. I went out to lunch with my mom, brother, and boyfriend, and then we took a nap at my house. Then, we ate dinner that my mom made for me and just sat at home with my family and watched Hotel Transylvania 2… with candy (that’s special; we never eat junk at the house). Not even joking. That’s all we did. It was great.

11) And lastly, which question has been your favorite?
That banana one was great.

Word Wars: the pen is mightier than the sword

Word Wars. What are they, you may ask?

Wikiwrimo (which, by the way, I had no idea they existed until I did this research) says here that, “Word wars may be conducted with specific goals in mind… races to see who can write the most in the set amount of time, or simply a set period of time to write as much as possible in the Write or Die fashion.”

ISN’T PUSHEEN JUST THE CUTEST?!

Basically, 2+ writers set a date and time and agree on an amount of time (start to finish style) and whoever writes the most words in said amount of time wins the “war.”

This is a great motivator to GET THAT FIRST DRAFT DONE, in my opinion. Does it make you sloppy while you write? Heck yeah, but you’re going to edit that sucker like 4,000 times so you just need to focus on finishing the first draft. Besides, experts say that writers who try to write their first drafts perfectly run a high chance of not finishing their manuscript. (True story, bro).

So what say I about Word Wars? Bring them on!

I want to get a decent draft (not first, but I’m not going to stretch so far and say the final draft) of THE WARLOCK’S AWAKENING (Book Three in The Witches’ Sleep Trilogy) completed by New Year’s Eve. I think I can do it, especially if I continue to do these Word Wars in my Goodreads Group.

I have the best Goodreads writing group. If you guys are interested in joining, it’s Year-Long NaNo. If you’re not friendly, don’t bother joining. We don’t want you. But if you’re a writer, encouraging, a good sport, then please! Come join us!

For anyone else, I challenge you to try out Word Wars with another writer. You’ll find out quickly how awesome it is!

‘Kay then. I’ve said what I wanted to say.

Love you guys to pieces!

Book Three Title Reveal! YAY! (seriously this time, I promise)

I know, I know. You don’t trust me so much right now thanks to the blog I posted about Book Three’s title reveal 2 weeks ago. But I promise, the title is revealed in this one!

For the last two weeks since I made the ultimate and final decision on the title for Book Three in The Witches’ Sleep Trilogy, I have had the absolute hardest time keeping it to myself. I want to just yell it, post about it, ask people if the title is catchy… or nah? (Can I say that or that unacceptable?) I have succeeded in refraining from spilling any of the beans, though! (Except for when I told all my family members and even a few friends. Then, of course, I made them swear through a blood sacrifice not to say a single word online or to anyone I had not approved of yet. And they zipped their lips shut (smart move).

I also thought long and hard about how I should reveal the title to you guys. I want it to be special, not just like: “Oh, the title is *blank*.” That’s boring. I’m not boring. I don’t like boring.

Finally, I thought to myself, “Hey, Kaitlyn,” (yes, I talk to myself in third person) “why don’t you make a banner that has secret book meaning behind the images? You can use this on your blog, for fun on Facebook, and even on your website. It’s a visual thing that other visual people like me will understand very well!” I love the visual stuff. Gives me warm, fuzzy feelings deep in my soul.

So, without further ado… Here’s the banner (or…what would you call this?) that I created just for you guys. (Yes, there are secret clues in it.)

The Warlock’s Awakening.

What are your thoughts on the title? Does it make you want to read it even more so than before? I hope so!

Next surprise coming soon: the (work-in-progress) synopsis of The Warlock’s Awakening. (Argh! It’s so awesome to finally say the title instead of “Book Three”!)

I just want to conclude this post by giving a huge shout out to the one and only Elisabeth Wheatley who came VERY close to guessing the title! Check out her comment on this blog post where I gave a super small clue about the title.
