I posted this excerpt from WORLD OF THE BEASTS on Facebook about an hour ago, and then I thought to myself, why don’t I just put it in a blog post, too? I never post anything anymore! I should take up the opportunity when I can, right? So, that’s what I’m doing.

Sunny’s Perspective:
“Is Three an Island?”

I sigh, leaning my head against the window, looking down on the shimmering water we glide miles above. As far as I can see, there’s only water. Water everywhere.

I lean over to Clap. “Is Three an island?” I whisper. I don’t know much about any of the Territories. Even though I should considering I’m the Princess and I was supposed to have taken a few history and geography classes as well as several government classes. I actually haven’t done them yet. I was planning on enrolling in a few classes right after the wedding, but now education isn’t a priority to me. All I’m concerned about is staying alive.

Clap mumbles, eyes still closed, “You should’ve read those books I gave you.”

I cross my arms over my chest, feeling a bit of guilt creep up my spine for shoving all the books Clap gave me over the last year on my bookshelf, never cracking a single one open. “I’ve been busy,” I mumble back.
